Strange New Worlds does a Balance of Terror type episode, with a little Disaster thrown in, and overall it works pretty well. It’s especially cool to see Pike, Spock, and Ortegas do some of the stronger problem solving of the series so far. Having to try different things out to defeat different Gorn ships is a nice touch, and barely escaping the main big Gorn ship is an effective set up for how formidable of an enemy they are. There are still a good number of funky bits, but overall we liked this one.
buttonsEnterprise tries to help some people, they have to use a docking thing its kinda cool.But then a girl makes a clicking noise!!Uhura and Hemmer are filling the Crusher and Geordi role from Disaster, a thankless task.A big shape comes after them.Not everyone makes it! But everyone we recognize does make it!Spock helps La’an remember how to kill the Gorn.Dang good job, Repressed Memory, that was extremely helpful. Unbelievably so, one might argue.So she flashes some lights at them making it seem like the smaller ship is telling the big one they’re being commandeered. The big Gorn ship *immediately* destroys them. Geez, guys!Hemmer is….. a pacifist ! They do a slingshot thing. Sling shot things are always the answer.There is a moment of suspense while we find out if Uhura had died in the maneuver. I’m pretty sure she’s gonna make it.
