[SNW] Lost in Translation

[SNW] Season 2, Episode 6: Lost in Translation

Rating: 2

Lost in Translation is the kind of Trek episode that can be difficult to pull off: A crew member is experiencing something Weird. It has aspects of a procedural but often times there isn’t much agency for the characters, it’s just a string of strange events that accumulate until their cause is revealed. We can only hope that the events themselves are moody and strange enough that they’re enjoyable to watch on their own, or the even more rare occurrence – the mystery has a clever and surprising resolution.
This episode side steps both of those options and succeeds modestly because of the focus on Uhura and Kirk, as well as supporting character threads.

Notes:

Hey Hemmler’s back! Not lookin great though
James T Kirk is back too
Hmm something is different about this corridor.
Kirk helps Uhura out with her insanity
Sam Kirk is the failure of the Kirk family because he likes science.
Uhura figures out that her visions are probably invisible aliens telling her to blow up a refining station.
Uhura gets another vision of Hemmler lookin happy, which is supposed to be confirmation that the invisible aliens are real, but I think Uhura losing her mind is still an equally valid explanation.
