[TNG] The Quality of Life

[TNG] Season 6, Episode 9: The Quality of Life

Rating: 2

This almost has the makings of a 3, but The Quality of Life takes a pretty dull road to get to some spicy Data-not-obeying-orders goodness. I look forward to an exocomp spinoff show.

Notes:

The crew will not stop talking about Geordi’s beard it’s all they can think about.
Geordi wants to shut down a project even though it took them 4 months to get the particle flux to the level it’s at – outrageous.
but then a lil’ robot floats into a hole. I like the way they float around.
It has little feet.
Data rips one to pieces to see if it’s alive.
But being alive is hard to define. the cute robot feet is enough for me, though.
Data suggests they stop using them as tools in case they might be alive, but the scientist has work to do! Geordi suggests trying to murder them as a test.
But in the simulation the robot doesn’t try to save itself. NOT ALIVE!
But actually it was too smart for the test and knew the threat was not real. ALIVE!!
Geordi and Picard are trapped in the prop room! We see some classics in here.
Data defies orders to keep the Exocomps from being sent into a situation that will kill them.
The robots spitball another plan, though…
…and sacrifice one of their own to save the others. ALIVE!
