[TNG] Season 3, Episode 14: A Matter of Perspective
Although I think the Rashomon concept of this episode could’ve produced a better story, it’s still fun enough for a 3, and manages to be one of the better “trial” episodes in Trek, even if it’s all pre-trial.

Enterprise goes to pick up Riker from a station and right when they beam him off, the station explodes.
They think Riker did it!
They recreate the testimonies in the holodeck so Picard can decide whether or not to hand Riker over to them for a trial
In Riker’s version, a married lady hits on him, and then he beams away the next day, definitely not blowing anything up.
But the investigator says he has evidence that shows there was phaser fire coming from Riker’s location as he beamed away
The married lady tells her version of what happened. She says Riker was the one hitting on HER and Riker punched her husband and Riker probably wanted to blow up her husband because he’s a slimy jerk!
Troi says she didn’t sense any deception from her. hmmm…
They also talk to a lab assistant who says the scientist/husband thought Riker was going to kill him.
Then Picard, Geordi and Data figure out what really happened. The scientist was up to no good!
So wait, that lady was completely lying. Why did Troi say she sensed no deception from her? That’s right, because Troi has been faking telepathic ability for this entire series.
