[TNG] Time Squared

[TNG] Season 2, Episode 13 (Netflix: S2 E13): Time Squared

Time Squared
Rating: 3
This episode has a genuinely captivating sense of mystery. Even though the resolution and explanation are kind of a let down, they aren’t so bad that it brings the episode down to a 2.

The future Picard becomes more alert and tries repeat what he did before: get off the ship seemingly to allow Enterprise to escape

Those really were some bad looking eggs.

“-Maybe we better change our path?
    – No! Dont you see? If this future-guy here, then, obviously, he did exactly what we will do and thats why we wouldnt do anything! We cant avoid the future! So it wouldnt matter, rright?
    – eh.. right..
    – So we better stay on course and when time to die will come, we just change some decision and that will change our future!!!
    – RIGHT!!! You so smaart!..”
This episode doesnt make any sense at all and those mumbling about time loops explains nothing! If they cant create some consistent time-travel-theory, then why not use some old-good ones – like parallel universes or static time (like in HP3).. And worst of all, everyone behaving like everything is clear, no one screams “I don`t understand!” or really asking “Why?”, instead when time come, one says “Oh! Bla-bla – Thats why!” and evrybody nods with smiles of understanding.. It ruins all world and reminds that they`re all fictional.
Mystery in the first half was good, but in the middle, Pickard somehow just predicts exactly what will be in the end! Jenre of it is not “detective”! It`s Science Fiction! Mystery is not core element of it, but completely optional! Logic must be priority! As example of science fiction, episode is awful. Its not 3/5.
