[ENT] Carbon Creek

[ENT] Season 2, Episode 2 (Netflix S2 E2): Carbon Creek

Carbon Creek
Rating: 3

This episode is fun and entertaining! Most people accept that, and are more likely to be surprised that we didn’t give it a higher rating. We didn’t find a lot that pushed it into the “great” category, but it’s not impossible to persuade us to give a higher rating. We’d love to hear your thoughts.

They win some money playing pool. He had never played it before, but don't worry, it's simple geometry and wouldn't challenge a Vulcan child. Somehow he even knew the rules regarding the 8 ball. I guess Vulcan children could've guessed those as well

The one character likes to watch TV. If they stay on earth long enough they might be able to catch TOS. I'd bet they'd like that show

Trip questions the story further. I think T’Pol started to realize that humans are sounding way too cool in this story so she pretends like she made it all up.

I really enjoyed this episode! OK, I think I’m finally “into” Enterprise!

I grew up along with TOS and Nimoy was funny. This episode brings back good memories. Pavel Chekov could object pointing out that the first encounter was in Russia, that coal, baseball and velcro are Russian inventions. It has taken less than 50 years to lose the spirit of Star Trek, and in Carbon Creek it has returned. In fact Enterprise started off with a bang when a Klingon was shot by a trigger happy Oaklahoma corn farmer. There should be some Star Trek fans that cherish the original toungue in cheek spirit.

Don’t get me wrong. I very much appreciated The Forge, Awakening and Kir’Shara for fleshing out the Vulcan mindset, but to be dead serious about this episode seems to be a waste.
