[TNG] Season 7, Episode 19: Genesis

Listen this is dumb but its also a rare creepy TNG and pretty good on that front. It was smart to break from the usual steady-crescendo-of-odd-events structure by cutting forward in time to Picard and Data showing up and discovering the ship in a horrible situation. Usually that’s relegated to another crew our main characters discover in a pre-credit sequence, so it ups the stakes very nicely to see the Enterprise crew so far gone.

Spot is pregnant!

Worf gets hungry and Troi loves to drink water! What the heck is going on!

Now she’s cold

Riker gets confused!

This is a normal thing to do when you’re cold.

Everyone has a “thing” in this episode so far, and Barclay’s is “slightly weirder than normal for Barclay”

Worf spits on Crusher. Gross!

Picard and Data return to an adrift Enterprise.

Troi is a bit more of a frog than she was before.

Riker is some kind of pre-human primate. Data determines that some latent introns have activated and the crew has devolved. Yup, that’s how it works.

Spot had her kittens!!

But she is not being a great mom and is also a lizard now lol

Worf is a mean monster, but really he’s just looking for love.

eventually everyone gets over it, and the devolving was all just because of a mistake by Crusher, whoops. I guess casually causing ship threatening disasters runs in the family.
