[ENT] Season 4, Episode 12: Babel One

The Andorians and Tellarites are really fun and might be my favorite contribution from Enterprise to the larger Star Trek universe. We also get a taste of the Romulans, although it might stir up feelings of anger among some people that we didn’t get to see more of the start of the Romulan War in Enterprise. I do actually think this arc can be frustrating in the way it hints at what could have been, but I would’ve much rather spent more time getting to know Tellarites and other founding members of the Federation. Anyway, that’s a discussion for another time. In general this episode kicks off a really enjoyable story that gives us an idea of the relationships between these cultures.

Notes:
Shran is under attack by the tellarites!
Archer is transporting Tellarites to a conference where they can negotiate with Andorians. Tellarites respect people who are a bit abrasive, so we get to see Archer say some hokey insults.
Archer hears Shran’s distress call
Shran isn’t too happy that there are Tellarites on board
Then an Andorian ship attacks Enterprise!
But it doesn’t have the same weaknesses as an Andorian ship…
They figure out that the engery signature was the same for that “Andorian ship” and the “Tellarite ship” that attacked Shran
They trace the signal to this thing.
We, the audience, get to see that the Romulans are operating it
Since the ship looked powerless, Enterprise beams over some people.
But then it attacks!
Trip and Reed were left on the enemy ship and they just have to kind of hang out. I liked that they get stranded on the ship. It’s a story element I haven’t quite seen in Trek before.
Archer figures the stuff out that the viewer has known for awhile.
and right before something was going to happen, too!
Trip and Reed make it to the bridge and discover the ship is being controlled remotely! To be continued….
