Paris and Tuvok go into the holodeck to finish the story but Seska had set a booby trap. Apparently she wanted to kill Tuvok which would probably get her in a lot of trouble if she was still alive (and she probably would assume she would be), and she wanted to do it with an elaborate holo-novel trap

It kind of seems more like they had Seska and they wanted her to get to play the villain again.
