Troi told her mother that Riker is just a friend, and in one of the movies Troi says she never kissed Riker while he had a beard. Even more evidence that she’s a liar
Then the Ferengi capture them
They introduce a lot of the elements of Ferengi sexism. Not a great contribution to the lore.
They want to use Lwaxana to read peoples’ minds and make money.
But don’t worry. Riker has a plan to make fun of one of the Ferengi’s chess skills
Picard smells some flowers
Wesley is about to leave. No one cares.
But then he figures out how to find Riker and Troi, so he has to stay.
Lwaxana convinces the Ferengi to release the other two on account of Troi being useless and Riker causing diplomatic trouble with Starfleet. Why wouldn’t Troi cause trouble with Starfleet just as much?

Troi explains to Picard that she wants Picard to act like he loves her, and threaten to kill them if they don’t give her back. Why go through the charade of pretending to be former lovers? Why not just threaten to kill them?
