"We leave behind a being of extraordinary power... and conscience. I am not certain if he should be praised or condemned. Only that he should be left alone." Yeah, and he should also be condemned. What on earth would he be praised for? Everything he did was wrong

ehh, he should be condemned. What on earth would he be praised for? Feeling guilty for committing genocide?

It turns out most of the mystery in this episode is because the old man made such weird decisions. If he wanted to be left alone by Enterprise why didn’t he just turn into a cactus or something and play it cool until they left? Why the elaborate cover story? Why the inconsistent trickery with warship? Why the snare in the front yard to make Riker flip upside-down? I’m pretty sure with his capabilities he could’ve figured out some way to stop the alien attack without killing them. Whatever, I’m going to stop thinking about this.
