We love looking at what other people have said about Star Trek, so we’ve compiled some of the ratings for season one of Deep Space Nine all in one place to compare. We took the ratings from a few different reviewers and calculated what their scores would be out of 100. Keep in mind that they originally didn’t rate the episodes with that exact scale, but we tried to accurately translate their rating. It’s also important to keep in mind that each reviewer may have different meanings behind their ratings.
We once again took a look at Jordan Hoffman‘s reviews. He writes for StarTrek.com! We included the reviews by Jamahl Epsicokhan who runs Jammer’s Reviews. If you notice a discrepancy in the ratings we wrote down for him and the ratings on his site, it’s because we’re going off his ratings that are revised and set out of ten. We also have Kethinov, another favorite Star Trek reviewer. We’re also bringing in Treknobabble, who are currently going through DS9. Treknobabble’s scores are a combined rating from two reviewers, so keep in mind their scale is slightly different.
For the first season of DS9 there were clear least favorites, as well as a clear favorite.
It was the infamous Move Along Home that came in last, with an averaged score of 21. Only closely ahead of that was If Wishes Were Horses, with with an averaged score of 26.
The clear favorite was Duet, with an averaged score of 96. In fact everyone gave it a perfect score except us (we gave it 4/5). We didn’t have any complaints about Duet, we’re just not ready to commit to a 5/5. Here are the top five according to the averaged ratings:
1. Duet (E19) – 96
2. Emissary: Parts 1 & 2 (E1&2)- 73
3. In the Hands of Prophets (E20) – 69
4. Captive Pursuit (E6) – 63
5. The Nagus (E11) – 62
We’re the only ones who didn’t like In the Hands of Prophets, which doesn’t really surprise us, and we’re sticking to our criticisms.
